Conducting a live interview and live streaming from remote location
When Red Thread Productions, a New York based production company, was engaged by the City of Los Angeles to help put together a short documentary to help bring the community together during the height of the Covid 19 crisis, they were looking for a way to hire a Los Angeles based crew to shoot the documentary footage with plans to post the project in NYC.
Working on a limited budget, the producer was looking for a way to conduct the sit down interviews remotely. Signal was contacted to put together a streaming video solution that would allow the producer/director to view the shots and actually conduct the interviews without traveling to Los Angeles.
Knowing that the documentary would be shot all over the city, Signal put together a bonded cellular Mobikit with each of AT&T, Verizon & TMobile services on board to help ensure that no matter where they were working the production had the best chance of maintaining connectivity. Additionally Signal included an IP stream encoder to ingest live cameras from set and live stream the video feed to the Red Thread office. Signal also provided a screen with a live zoom feed that allowed the producer to interact with the on camera subjects in real time and actually perform the interviews and direct remotely.
The kit worked flawlessly and the producers were very pleased with the results and ultimately the cost savings of using Signal to engineer a live video solution.
